Circular walk near Camacha
Two levadas north of Camacha.
A beautiful circular walk that leads through the northern hilly landscape of Camacha.
At the outset, you follow the Levada dos Tornos, and then continue along a secondary road to ascent to the Levada da Serra do Faial. Along the way, you will come across three tunnels where you may need a flashlight.
Difficulty: Actually, a very easy circular walk, also a few very precipitous sections have grated this a 'black' walk. Along the Levada dos Tornos, there is a moderate to exreme danger of vertigo. Depending on weather conditions, the Levada trail can be wet and slippery.
Refreshment: Rita's tea house.
Starting point: Camaca, 700 m. Very good connection from Funchal with bus № 129. Approaching by car, you can park at the Largo da Achada.
Return: Along the main road in Camacha, pass by the parish church and, at the fork 20 m on, bear left. Just after that, in the center of the town of Camacha return to the bus stop at the Largo da Achada.
