Yuliia Buriak

Yuliia Buriak is a writer and photographer based on Madeira. She has been walking the island since 2022 and is responsible for most of the photography on Madeirawalk, the Russian-language translations, and the on-trail observations that do not fit into a GPX file — light, weather, what the basalt actually feels like underfoot.

She approaches a guide the way she approaches a photo set: walk it, sit with it, return when the conditions change, then write only what is verifiable. No generic "wear appropriate shoes". The whole point of Madeirawalk is the specific.

Favourite trails: Vereda do Fanal in fog, Levada do Risco at 11 a.m. when the waterfall has the right light, and Levada do Caldeirão Verde end-to-end when the tunnels are still dripping after rain.
